Portsmouth Maternity Centre, St Mary's, Portsmouth
Welcome
 The Portsmouth Maternity Centre is a Midwifery Led Unit staffed by highly experienced Midwives and Maternity Support Workers offering a more relaxed atmosphere in which to give birth. This Centre is a birth choice in addition to the already successful range of childbirth choices that Portsmouth Hospitals provides for Portsmouth and the surrounding area including the option of a homebirth or a birth at The Grange Maternity Centre in Petersfield, The Blake Maternity Centre in Gosport, The Mary Rose Maternity Co-located Centre on B5 at the QA Hospital and of course the Main Maternity Unit on B8 at the QA.
Facilities
- Two en suite birthing rooms, one with a water birth pool
- Four postnatal beds offering the choice for more support with breastfeeding and parenting skills
- Two clinic rooms
- Parent Education Room and facilities
- Birthing balls, equipment and mats as well as Febromed equipment, which allows the woman and her partner to adopt different positions in labour to assist the birth
The Centre holds Antenatal and Postnatal clinics by appointment with the Community Midwives and Parentcraft classes.
