Safe Hands for Mothers raises money for safe motherhoodSally Griffiths, a midwife at St Mary's Maternity Unit in Portsmouth, is taking part in a 130 Kilometre walk in North West Spain in aid of the SafeHands for Mothers charity to raise money for safe motherhood in Ethopia.
The 'El Camino de Santiago' or The Way of St James is the pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in North Western Spain, where the remains of the apostle, St James, are buried. The Way of St James has existed for over 1,000 years. It was one of the most important Christian pilgrimages during medieval times, and is still undertaken by modern day pilgrims. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: SafeHands For Mothers Charitable Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

I am Sally Griffiths, a midwife at St Mary's Maternity Unit in Portsmouth. It is a real honour to be nominated to take part in this 130 kilometre walk in aid of the SafeHands for Mothers fund-raising campaign, which aims to raise £350,00 in support of safe motherhood in Ethiopia, where an estimated 24,000 maternal deaths occur annually.
